Can you change your wireless MHz Band?

Hey guys,

I've run across a very good wireless, for a cheap price, but it runs on a MHz band that is over 700 MHz (Now banned in the USA). Is there anyway possible to change the MHz in the receiver and transmitter to make it legal to use?

I don't know of any manufacturer who offered this service.

It is illegal to use or to sell 700MHz units in the US.

The banned frequencies are between 698 and 806 MHz, so if you're above 806 you're golden. Otherwise you're not.

Possible, yes, feasible, no.

Except for an OP-amp or two, there's nothing else than the transmitter and reciever in the boxes, which You'd have to swap for legal units.

There's a catch though, there always is .

Depending of the output power of the transmitter, the area You'd be filling with interference is less than a square kilometer in most cases. I won't say that it's all right to break the law, but if You're using that transmitter in the middle of nowhere, no-one will care, or notice.

Some manufacturers offer a nice trade in allowance where they replace the unit with a new one in a legal band.

Depends on how cheap that unit is and what the policy is of the manufacturer regarding trade ins/replacement.

Very probably not going to be worth it.
