Hey guys,

I hope this is the right thread for this, I was wondering if you guys could give me a hand identifying this bass. I picked it up at a yard sale for 10 bucks. All the guy knew about it was where he got it, for his son who never played it. It looks like maybe a fender knock off, that's about all I got. Please help!! Make/Model/Worth/any info you got. Serial number looks like WO 20979

Thank you so much for your knowledge!

Looks like a 60s/70s japanese knock off as others have said above.

Looks like a single coil under the cover judging by the screws just visible.

Good find for $10 though. Is it shortscale?

It's single coil. It is also a shortscale. There is no notation on the head stock besides a small sticker where it was bough "M and M music, Vineland, NJ". Any idea on the maker? Its not in bad shape, how about the worth?

It might have been a store brand bass that was bought from a Japanese factory. The body (at least the top) looks like 1 piece of wood. The neck looks like it could be mahogany and with the binding and inlays (if they aren't just stickers) looks like it could be a higher quality bass. If you take off the control plate you can see if the body is 1 piece or more.

For $10 you can't go wrong anyway even if you just hang it on the wall. You beat me - I paid $20 for a Hondo II Curlee knockoff that turned out to be a nice player after I replaced a few things.

Can you tell me the name thats on the sticker on head stock.or please call me . 9312012737

As others have said, it could be alot of things. However, the fact that it has J-bass style pickups puts it at least a bit ahead of the oddball humbucker equipped cheapo's that preceeded it. How long is the scale (Distance from bridge to nut)? If it's a full scale 34" that would be a point in it's favor.
