Try living in NZ or Australia if you want to experience a real rip-off.

Now, on many items I can cop the price hike as you have to take into account how remote we are and how small our market is but why do Indonesian made basses (Squier etc) cost so much more when the factory is much closer to Australia than the US?

The one thing that really gets up my nose is how we pay so much more for downloaded software and music.

In the states these are $449 and no tax if online.
Just sick of this crap.

...with current exchange rate, C$449= US$613.77, so it's a DEAL! Don't forget, no tax means DUTY and TAX at the border! YEAH!

My goodness!!! That is expensive! Considering is probably built in China. I wonder if Australian have a free trade agreement with major Asian economies already. I ask you because it is a big difference for the buyer. I used to live in Chile which is like Australia far away from the major markets but we do have an old free trade agreement with Asian big countries so the final price for those very items is correct.

As far as I am aware Australia and NZ have free trade agreements with most Asian countries as we are geographically more a part of Asia than we are a part of the US or Europe.
