I used to love the Boston-Montreal rivalry. Honestly though, the last five years, the league has been pathetic letting the Bruins off the hook on so many dirty plays.

Well, it has stopped in Montreal, maybe 95%. But, you know, there are always jerks. Look at Ottawa, they have a whole building that houses all the jerk &^*&&-holes from every province in a green room and a red room :)

Almost got in a fist fight over this subject once. I was living in St. Johns and a friend of a friend, a separatist was ranting about the evil, greedy, coniving English in charge in Quebec. He said they should all be thrown out.

So I said, "Okay, so you want to replace them with evil, greedy, coniving French?" (Seemed like a reasonable question to me, he didn't agree.)
Hint: They are all politicians regadless of party, country, or what language they speak.

What, booing the Eng. verses of the Cdn. anthem or booing the U.S. anthem? I remember hearing that in (I think) a Bruins/Cdns playoff series. I wanted to crawl under the couch in shame.

Not the booing, I meant overall language idiocy in the streets. The booing still happens from time to time and it is always as pathetic as ever.

I forgot about the anthem booing. Oy vey. Then you've got those fools singing that stupid song during the play, like they're at a soccer game or something. A pox on that franchise!

Depends what you want. There are a lot of Fenders at both locations. Mothers has all the Warwicks right now & has a really nice Gibson SG on the wall with the guitars, you should give that one a try. There are a lot of Yammys & Ibanezes at Stafford atm.

If you go to Stafford, keep yer mitts away from that black Godin......I might buy that thing.

Don't worry about the Godin, I'm gonna need a thicker wallet before I could pick that thing (or anything) up. If anything, my next purchase will be an Ibanez 6-er :bassist:

I can't speak for the rest of the province, but in my experience that's a rarity in Montreal nowadays, except in certain neighborhoods known for being very pro-PQ. That sort of ultra-belligerent stuff has really toned down.

However, as a half-anglo half-franco born in Montreal, I threaten to leave myself every 15-20 years or so. :D

France is a big country. If you're in Paris, just about every restaurant has bilingual staff and when they realize that French isn't your mother tongue, they will immediately speak to you in English. Tourism is huge in France. It's the most visited country in the world. Rural France is quite insular and rarely have any opportunity or need to speak any other language. Young people learn in in high school and on more than one occasion, we've had store clerks speak to us in English, quite excitedly, because they have a chance to speak English.

I'm from Montreal. English from Montreal, but learned French in high school. I speak every day here in Switzerland and when I'm in France. The big difference to speaking French here is there are no political tensions or overtones that very much existed in Quebec by the time I left in 87 for Vancouver. Since living in Europe for the past thirteen years, I live speaking French. But I have to admit that when I return to Montreal, I frequently have difficulty understanding local French. The phraseology and slang is "special". That said, I'm very proud of my Montreal heritage. I always live this video:

me too......there seem to be a lot of people here that take some perverse pleasure in that stuff.....sometimes i'm not sure where we got that whole "polite"rep.or how we maintain it.....
