This thread has been very useful for figuring out series-paralel switching for the blend pot.
I want to wire up my bass this way, either with the 4-pole or 3-pole method, but i want to add in an option to switch between grounded and ungrounded mode, when in paralel, with a push pull.
Seem easy, since with 3-pole method, using 4pdt switch and dpdt push-pull potenciometer, there are 3 aditional pole sets to work with. But i can't figure it out, whatever i draw up, the push-pull switch becomes problematic if it's engaged for ungrounded mode, but 4pdt is set to series blending. Either the bridge or the neck control becomes inactive.
The basic idea, is that only two connections need to be cut for the ungrounded paralel blend - the ground connection from the bridge layer 0 output lug, and the cross conection from this lug, to neck 0 output lug. Switching to series mode, while these two connections are disconnected, means neither neck nor bridge can now be volume controled with the resistor, there's no way to short either pickup's leads.
Now, with one left over set of poles on a 4pdt, it's possible to ignore one of the disconnects while in series mode, but i'm always left with the other disconnection being a problem, i always need 1 more set of poles on the 4pdt, to ignore the DPDT when in series.
Here's an image from the original thread, with the ungrounded mode engaged, while in series, and a fix for one of the missing connections, while in this mode. SW1d solves half the problem, by ignoring SW2b, and SW1d itself is ignored completely in paralel mode. I need either an aditional SW1e pole set, or some more elegant solution i'm not seeing, since im new to schematics.
Does anyone have any obvious solutions in mind? Is this even possible with a 4pdt and dpdt push-pull?
If not, can it be done with a 4pdt and 3pdt or another 4pdt?
It's easily solvable with a 5pdt and dpdt push-pull, but i can't seem to find any 5pdt swithches on the net.
