Capo on a bass ??

Whatever you need for the task at hand. It seems a lot of people almost regard a capo as "cheating" on bass. Never could figure out why. I've used one a few times, and I feel like it worked well for the song. It isn't something I do often though.

Personally, when playing with this band or that act...
And to me, that's a perfect use for that function. That makes all the sense in the world when you're doing things on the fly with different acts. It's the keyboard player with a steady job in the same band, 100 shows a year, same songs, that I just shake my head when he plays all white keys (for the most part) all night long and inevitably misses a different key some time through the night.

I have never done it personally but I have known other musicians, that are guitar players trying bass, to do it. I suppose I transpose in my head or something. I know I did tell one guitar player that if he used that thing in public, he might catch hell from other bass players. I only use a capo on guitar for different voicings. I am talking in particular of the "Cut Capo".
