Car stereo security.

Yeah, my friend's volvo is like that. I have an aftermarket DIN sized stereo. I take the faceplate with me, but I'd also like to make it harder to for head unit to come out as well.

True, and that's why I have a removable faceplate stereo. It's pretty much useless without the faceplate, which costs almost as much as the stereo.

I figure if it won't come out with a quick yank, it will not be worth getting into, especially without the faceplate.

My buddy is an electronis genius. He devised a system where the chassis around his car stereo is electrified when he turns the car off. As soon as you try and grab the stereo, it shocks you.

His stereo has never been ripped off.

Go with the Viper Alarm system. Its pretty much impossible to override.... I'm exteremely happy with mine. There are many options too, such as glass protection, hood and trunk sensors and so on. Just make SURE that the persosn installing it knows what the heck he's doing or you'll be REALLY sorry in the long run. The electrical system of a persons car isn't too forgiving for crossed wires, loose connections and poor insulation.

That's got to run down the battery, surely?

My personal security measure is to have the crappiest piece of crap possible so that returning to find it stolen would be a pleasant surprise.

Hell yeah. I figure a 375,000 mile rusty chevy truck with no radio is deterrent enough.
