I doubt it will be that bad, I'm betting lots of people will be going out of town before it happens and most will probably use the streets instead....even if that's not the case, I've never been bothered by traffic because I always give myself plenty of time and I'm listening to music everytime I drive anyway...

A major, international biological or chemical attack, I think, would constitute 'hell on earth'.

An interplanetary collision with, say, Jupiter, I think, would constitute 'hell on earth'.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm starting to get really sick and tired of people whingeing about not being able to watch *insert-stupid-TV-show-here* or having to work an extra 30 minutes, or having to take off their shoes at the airport.

I don't think I've ever heard one single piece of news in my entire life, that I would feel comfortable linking thematically to Armageddon.

People tend to go out of town for the weekend on Friday, after work. Oh wait, thats when this all starts. Tonight at 7pm. The "streets" (read canyon roads) in the area of the closure also have extensice construction going on, so Im told. Did you see what happened when they had to close PCH down for a little while. **** got real bad, real quick. Not to mention the 405 is a major freeway that already has its share of traffic problems. They are advising most people not to drive the freeways at all if it can be helped.

Armageddon, not quite. But a HUGE ****ing inconvenience to anyone who needs to travel, especially those who have to work. One major LA hospital is turning its new, unopened wing into a "hotel" of sorts for any Doctors/Nurses that will be inconvenienced by the closure. Those people will essentially be at work for 72+ hours depending on their schedules.

It takes me about 50 minutes to drive home from work on a normal day. With bad traffice, its taken me 2 hours and 10 minutes. Thankfully I dont work on the weekends, but I do have a gig Saturday night in East LA, and though I have the ability to leave early to make it on time, Id rather it not take me 2 hours to drive 20 miles.

I live in Valley Village (Studio City) Average commute time is about 1:50 for 9.2 miles each way, or 18.4 total.

I used to drive in to work with my dad over the summers, and we would leave at 6:15am and there would be virtually NO cars on the road. Now you have to leave at that time, just to make it to work by 8am, if you are even a decent distance away.

The traffic is a major stresser for me....especially with texters making it even harder just to drive.

Gotcha, I agree on the overexaggerated headline as well. To most, its just another day of really bad trafffic.

Jeebus. That is not an exaggeration at all....it takes an hour to drive 9 miles from anywhere West LA and the Valley, whether you take the streets or the freeway

"You will never understand!" LOL. Ok, Im sure there are others out there who know the pains of horrible traffic. This situation is taking that bad traffic, and making it, easily, 10 times worse than it already is. If I didnt have a gig at The Airliner tomorrow night I wouldnt be hitting the freeway at all. I might be lucky enough that the gig is just far enough outside of LA proper to be affected, hopefully. Still leaving extra early, though.
