Does anyone know what kind of bass this might be? Almost looks like a beginner instrument of some sort, based on the size of the body.

Memphis, according to some guy on reddit, who got the answer from talkbass:
Google lens is amazing. It starts off with AI shenanigans but if you keep digging you can actually find some information.
I held one of those really small Memphis electric basses before.
It was ten years ago, in a local pawn shop.
Kind of beat up, it was, but still felt and sounded good.

Ms Kaye is a short lady. You see pictures of her with the usual Precision Bass, and it is really big on her. She's commented from time to time she'd have preferred something a little more her size. You see later pictures of her with a PBass Lyte and the occasional Ibanez.

Yep, it's a D'Mini. We carried these when they were in fashion at the store I worked for in the early 80's.
Michaele Anthony played one as well onstage at the US Festival in 1983:

Love that extended strap button. Some of us really hate neck dive.
I had a D’Mini very briefly in the early 80’s. It was not well made, didn’t sound great and had horrible neck dive.
