That's the exact one I use. It won't solve the problem by itself but it will make a considerable difference. You can find them at some pet stores.

Use Advantix or Revolution on your cats and try spreading this Diatomaceous earth on your carpet and leave it there for couple of weeks. Then vacuum, then repeat. It is not harmful to your pets or your family.

Depending on how many cats you have maybe the best solution is having the house professionally exterminated. Fleas are tough to get rid of especially if you have their food source around (cats). If you think it's only one room or one level, you're probably wrong, they spread really fast.


The Frontline resistant fleas are more common in southern states. Apparently Advantix still works on them.

Interesting. I had no idea Diatomaceous Earth could be used for such purposes. My parents have a bunch at home for the pool. I can also spread it around my garden to get rid of those damn snails! 2 for 1, yay!

It seems Home Depot sells that Diatomaceous earth stuff. It's safer than boric acid? Can they both be used in different ways to compliment each other.

I haven't researched boric acid so I can't really comment on that.
I know that diatomaceous earth can be a long term control or preventative from things escalating with the creepy crawlies in and around the house.

But for actually getting rid of pests immidately, you need chemical solution to the problem.

Even if your pets are indoor pets, there are undoubtably fleas in your yard. YOU and your family can be bringing in fleas - they hop right onto your legs, your pants, etc. The folks who lived in our house before we moved in had a dog in their yard. Lord knows how many times we gave the poor cats flea baths, and later stuff like Advantage, used flea spray etc. to try and kill the fleas in the carpet - at least every three days as new ones would hatch out to replace the ones we'd killed. We had to use a grass fertilizer with insecticide in it several times, about two weeks apart for perhaps 2 months to get most of the outside fleas, and have to treat the lawn several times each spring and summer to get the new ones that have been brought in by wildlife - squirrels, rabbits, mice, etc. So don't forget to treat the lawn as well as the house and your pets. Fleas are tenacious.

This is of little to no consequence but for some reason I keep on reading this thread title as "Cancer Treatment for Fleas"... I just though you all would like to know that. Carry on. Nothing to see here. These aren't the droids you're looking for. etc etc... peace out and so forth
