Carvin IEM, any experience?

Our band is starting to think about the possibility of using In Ear Monitors.
I have never used them, in fact only one band member has ever used IEM's. Money is kinda tight, but we don't want to spend money on junk.

Does anyone have any experience with the Carvin EM900 system?

These will be used in a church setting with a worship band that plays pretty aggressive, loud music. Our music has a heavy rock slant if that matters.

We have acoustic drums, bass (I am using a Thunderfunk/Aguilar rig onstage) and two guitars DI'd into the board.

The biggest issues we have now is the singers hearing a mix properly. The drummer and I really don't have a problem hearing, he has the main vocalist and guitar on his monitor mix and play off of my stage rig.

We have worked with the stage volume and monitor mix to the point that it is not really bad, but we think it could be better with IEM's.

With all that said, I wanted to get some feedback on the Carvin unit. Like I said, we don't want junk but can't afford state-of-the-art either.

As a guy who's gone through this...

Your first step is ditching all stage sound and everyone practicing with headphones..

I dig IEM.. sounds like you may have a bunch of hurdles before gear.

For a church setting don't overlook a RollsPM351 ..

If you want to go wireless, I'd go with the AT M3 or the Sennheiser EW300G3. (The Senny buds are crap - dunno about the AT).

I do tons of church gigs... I have a wireless IEM with a limiter.. have used the Rolls at least 100x ... for church gigs, have not had the issues with a limiter....

Folks forget the sound crew is nomrally super vigilant about sound levels.

For a rock act, yes... church act no.
