Carvin LB76 a good bass?

Carvin's are great for the price. The downside that kept me away was the flat center section along the neck of their 6ers. Otherwise they are great.

I currently own an IC5. Best bass I've ever played.
and I disagree with the statement "great for the price". They could easily be sold at twice their current price and still be worth it.

I just picked up an LB76 on eBay. I never played a 6er before, and I'm having a wonderful time with it. The neck is quite comfortable. It has the single coil pickups, but is very quiet.
If I was buying one new, I would go for the long-scale option, the 35 incher. That would tighten up the B string a bit. But other than that, I'm happy with it.
I've played Soundgear basses before ... if you need speed, or play "lead bass", go for it. But I found the necks were too narrow and thin for me. Personal preference. Others just love the speed in which you can rip.

I have an LB76 which is fantastic. The neck is incredibly comfortable, the woods they use look great (I have flame maple) and the ballance is superb. The tone is good too, I can pretty much nail the stingray sound with mine. Unfortunately, it dosen't sound like a thumb, which is my only gripe about it.

A used Carvin is one of the best values out there. A $1200+ bass for around $500!
You can't beat that. They are nice basses. I had one and found it to be good but not exceptional. Still for $500 for one, you can upgrade the electronics to get it where you want it.
The only bad thing about them is sometimes the 6 strings develop slight neck issues- mine had a slight dip in the fretboard that would not adjust out with the truss rod- it was not a huge issue, but still it was there. It developed about a year after I bought it.
DON'T BUY A NEW CARVIN, BUY USED! let someone else eat the $700 loss.

I've got 2, a fretted and a fretless, and I think they are the best 6s for the money. I bought My fretted new in 1994, and it has been my main bass ever since. The fretless is a year or two older, and I picked it up last year used for 400 bucks. My only gripe is that the electronics aren't spectactular. I just did up a J type bass with an audere preamp and am thinking about trying one in my fretted.
