i got the series 3 r600 head which imo is loud and the price was very good.
the rl410t cab is paired up with it, i dont have much experience playing with different amps, and this setup, does lack something, but its not enough for an amatuer bass player like me to be complaining.
overall it gets the job done, maybe if my band ever plays anything other than local mid-sized clubs, and rent-a-halls, i'll consider buying different gear.
on another note. i have on a few occasions played gigs with another local band whos bass player has an ampeg 4 10"s, and we paired up my carvin, with his ampeg and the sound was awesome for both of us (he plays in a sort of progressive metal band, and me in a punk-ish/hardcore band) i used my carvin head and he used his ampeg head, we both got the tone we desired, but my head just pumped out more power.
i guess it all depends on what YOU yourself are looking for.
