Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 8!

I think this is the updated list...I know a sunset burst would look so killer on a flamed top, but I think I'll be happy with the classic look of the alder. (and excuse my ignorance on my last build that I shared, didn't realize that I had selected the "maple top" on my Alder body...rookie mistake!)

As long as you end up with what you really want, there's no mistakes.

I'm going to finally pull the trigger on a SB5K. If you're on the fence, now is a great time - $100 off the top, $100 in free options, and options and case are 50% off! Here's what I'm thinking for my build:

Maple Neck/Alder Body (Standard)
Clear Gloss Finish (Standard)
Classic White
Tung Oil Finish Back Of Neck (Standard)
SB-Style Headstock (Standard)
Headstock To Match Body Finish
Rosewood Fingerboard (Standard)
Dot Inlays (Standard) $0.00
Stainless Regular Frets .043" H .080" W
14in Fretboard Radius (Standard)
J99A Alnico Single Coil Pickups (Standard)
Black Pickups
Chrome Hardware (Standard)
Nickel Roundwound .040 .060 .080 .100 .128
Black Logo
Rosewood Knobs
Dunlop Straplocks
Metal Hand Guard for Neck Pickup
White Pearloid Pickguard

I planning on getting an extra set of chrome knobs and a tort guard as well. The only thing I'm undecided about are inlays - should I go for mother of pearl blocks?

I'd definitely go with the blocks. It'll go great with the white finish, for sure.

Agreed! Just ordered it! And I ordered what I wanted...flamed maple fingerboard and headstock. No problem with the plain finish. Also ordered the one piece swamp ash body.

Bummed about the 8 week build time, but I'm so looking forward to playing her!

Awesome. On your confirmation email, what is the code for your headstock?

Also, you're in for the longest eight weeks of your life. Summer is going to last forever! Wait a minute... I think you're on to something here! When I convince my wife to let me order that Bromberg B24, I'm going to do it on the first week of summer LOL

I'm right there with you. I've been GASing for a higher end Jazz than my modded SX, so I've been watching this thread as well as the B40/50 thread.

I briefly had an Sb5000. I currently have another high end J copy but I kinda want something different looking.

Stop thinking about it and it'll go by fast.

8 weeks passes by in no time. My last build was 6 months. Nearly killed me!

Fred, post a pic of your SB. It's a killer looking 4 banger!

This one? :D

How am I supposed to wait 8 weeks when it's been less than 24 hours and I can't wait for the stupid certificate to arrive in the mail?!

Oh, hey! Last minute switch of colors. Bold move! I predict you're going to second guess that decision for the next 8 weeks, wondering if you made the right move, until your NBD, when you open the box, and realize you (and Carvin) nailed it.

Yeah, I don't dig the gold hardware either. I thought about hitting purchase, but posted it here instead. I'm still not sure on the blend and mid control. But 9.1lbs. That might be the lightest one I've seen. And a looker as well.
