On one hand, I have to agree with dgce about that. It seems like that would make sense. Plus, they would probably have to develop the technical/mechanical details of getting their hardware able to put a P pickup on a body other than the PB basses.

On the other hand, I would think they might sell more basses if they have the P option available on other basses... I can't be the only one that doesn't particularly care for that PB body style. If the P/J option was available on a Bromberg 5'er, I'm not sure I would be able to keep myself from ordering one immediately!

A SB5000 P & J would give me gas to order one fast.

I've had mine for a month now. I love it, but it has the missing intonation screw problem that others have reported.

I am pretty sure Carvin will not put a p pickup in any other body style at this time. Carvin employees have said they have no such plans at this time.

I doubt that Carvin would do that (though maybe they will do anything if you pay them) because its not everything else the same. The pickups on a passive P/J do not blend the same way (as well as) a passive J/J so there would need to be a change to the active preamp. And in fact Carvin has said the preamp on the active PB is very different from the preamp on the SB.

I'm not aware of any advantage in blending the pickups in an active preamp set up over passive. Can you elaborate? Also, my understanding is that the exact same preamp is being used on the PB and the SB.

Dennis, I'm diggin' it! What's going on with the missing intonation screws? Are they not setting intonations at the factory?

Even without the screw it's a badass bass! Cool color.

Thanks Funkinthetrunk! It had the spring in there, so I didn't notice until I changed the factory strings to a heavier gauge. The intonation and setup was perfect from the factory. Luckily there are the locking screws!

Wow...interesting. That's very puzzling to say the least.

How's that neck profile working for you?

I thought someone around here said the sb5000/b50 neck was thinner than the Bromberg. I was sure the Bromberg was likely the thinner one

I've had both, and though both are fairly thin, the B25 neck felt thinner than the SB5000. But that's entirely subjective, not from measurements. Both were very comfortable to me.

DR Sunbeams. Keep enough highs without being brittle...although I think the preamp has mellowed out slightly since it was new (or my ears have..)

All of these months later and just noticed the intonation screw is missing on the low B. I guess i never noticed because it was set just fine from the factory. Locking screw is still doing the trick but I will be calling to get the screw.
