Hey Dan, I'm going the Case Xtreme route, likely with the neck inside too. Had a good look at one recently (well, pre Covid tour times) and talked with a few friends who use them. No issues, and the reports are that the CX folks are easy to work with. Good luck. DK
Hi all, wanted to update this thread with some tough news. Bruce @ CaseXtreme was diagnosed with ALS a while back, and passed away last week. I'd had a bass converted and had my tracings sent to Bruce last September, but the timetable of the upcoming tour precluded my ordering the case since it wouldn't be ready in time, so I took my Chadwick instead. Anyway, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I thought it might help others to know that CaseXtreme is no longer an option. I'm currently exploring other options...if anyone has any insight or advice to offer I'd be grateful. Hope all of you travelers are staying healthy of body, mind, and instrument. Cheers. DK
No experience with this particular case, there are some advantages to having a separate case for the neck, as that tends to be the heaviest piece. Flying with the Gage case, the "body" part of the case is undersize AND underweight and checks in as regular baggage, so no extra charges. And the neck case fits in the overhead bin of pretty much everything, including the little commuter jets for short hops. I only had to gate check the neck once.Does anyone have any experience with the SCB Travelbass RN Flightcase? The exchange rate is pretty favorable right now. Looks nice, cannot find in the website, how much its cost?I got mine from http://www.en.ikahardcase.cz/
It was their standard removable neck shape but they can custom-build to fit your bass. I know Leon Bosch and Valentina Ciardelli (two very well-travelled bassists) use their cases (although they have the standard neck-on case).
I haven’t used mine yet due to various plans changing because of Covid, but it seems great and is nice and light.

I don't know about the Bass Works Case in Europe, but the case sold by Kontrabass-Atelier of Jonas Lohse seems to be an interesting product...Anybody knows where to find a case like this in europe?
