Casey Anthony found not guilty

This is why I didn't and don't "follow" trials. They are filtered, and filtered again, stirred, mixed and filtered some more - then you get only a fraction of that filtered content. The idea that you can make any sort of informed decision is all but impossible.

Unless you were a part of the investigation, the medical examination or the actual trial itself, you only know the very small amount of "information" that the sound bites provided.

I don't know what happened - neither do any of us here. While we can emotionally react to the narratives we've all created in our minds, that all that's going on here.

I don't mean to trivialize, but in the grand scheme of things a woman killing her child and being found not guilty, while incredibly tragic, unjust, and horrible, simply does not matter. It in no way affects anyone else besides Mrs. Anthony.

I think my case is a little different from yours. I'm actually local, where as you are a thousand miles away. So we have different viewpoints on the whole thing and it's importance.

QFT.

She wasn't found innocent. She was found "not guilty"

"Not guilty" is not the same things as "innocent".
true , very true ...
Do you think she give's a rat's arss about the semantics?
All she cares about is she's free, and as far as I can see, got away with murdering a child.
Her child.
i agree , but the system did indeed find her not guilty ...:hmm:

Do you think she give's a rat's arss about the semantics?

I don't care if she does - but I do.

She was found "not guilty beyond a reasonable doubt". Doesn't mean she was innocent. Doesn't mean she didn't kill the kid.

All it means is that the prosecution was unable to convince a jury that she was "guilty beyond a reasonable doubt".

Even the guilty get to go free if the state is unable to prove their guilt. There is no onus to prove innocence.

As Blackstone said (and is the basis for the entirety of our legal system) - "better that ten guilty persons escape than that one innocent suffer"

Bingo.

But what about the little girl that suffered? It's amazing how we forget about her, and every other victim. The system does nothing more than favor the criminals. From the rules juries need to follow all the way to the salary differential between a good prosecutor and a good defense attorney.

This skank lied repeatedly and tried to cover up every facet of this case. She belongs in jail. And not isolated... She belongs right in population, where child abusers are taken to real kind-like!

They can, but the amount of attention this case was getting both on national and local news stations was astounding. Again I don't mean to trivialize, but there are much more important things going on right now than this murder case.

This also seems more your opinion as the amount of coverage that the case received seems to prove otherwise. Not saying that I agree with the amount of media coverage that this case received, but it's obvious that the case and moreover the outcome of this case was important to a great many folks.

I never agree with you on these threads about criminals. Guys being shot while holding up a place with a knife, people being killed while trying to get away etc. But in this case I'm so on your side it's scary.

The thought of someone killing their own kid so they can party makes me sick to my stomach, I have never ever wished death on anyone but I'm having a hard time convincing myself not to try it once.

Yeah, I tend to be a little vicious in my views on criminals. I don't expect most to agree with me. I always try my hardest to respect other opinions, however. I know I'm in the strong minority with my capital punishment views! ;)

But what about the little girl that suffered?

What about her?

Should the state take folks found not guilty and punish them because a little girl died? What if it was an adult that was killed?

It's tragic she died... but without a conviction - that is just the reality of the situation. The purpose of our justice system is to pragmatically protect the public at large, not exact revenge.

Of course - I see this case in many of the same ways I see cases like JonBenet Ramsey and Natalee Holloway... lots of outrage not because of the crime, but because the victim was a cute little girl.

It's amazing how we forget about her, and every other victim. The system does nothing more than favor the criminals.

No, the system doesn't favor criminals. It favors those accused of a crime by putting the onus of proof on those making a positive claim and possessing the legal right to initiate force.

...and it's the entire basis of our legal system and English Common Law.

Innocent until proven guilty. Right to a jury of your peers.

This skank lied repeatedly and tried to cover up every facet of this case. She belongs in jail. And not isolated... She belongs right in population, where child abusers are taken to real kind-like!

You believe she lied. The jury obviously disagrees. Or at least believes in spite of her lying that the prosecution didn't "prove beyond a reasonable doubt" her guilt in the crime.

If you were on the jury, and thought she was guilty - but didn't believe the prosecution proved it beyond a reasonable doubt - would you convict her?

Well, he's getting his wish. Guilty people - murder, financial, ethical, whatever the crimes - are getting away with it all the time.

I have to believe that these people will "get there's" in another way at another time.
