Excellent news! I'd definitely take option #2, given Chris' recent problems with delivery times. Many Kudos to Glenn too. It sounds like he is an extremely stand up dealer.

Interesting... I've never heard the Alleva's described particularly as '70's aggressive'. Did you play the Celinder Update model? That's the one we all talk about. His Vintage and Standard models are much more similar to the more 'standard' 60's style instruments that most boutique makers produce.

If Alleva makes a 'juiced up 70's model', I'll have to try one!

It's Shoreline Gold and it's killer... Next month will be 3 years that I've owned which is like an eternity around here.. It has a few dings and marks but who cares...It's my favorite and I always get alot of compliments on it's sound/tone...

Nice! You know, my blonde Update is identical to yours, and came with the black pickguard. I replaced it with a perloid to match the blocks and binding, and I like the look. But... that black pickguard looks awesome too. It gives the bass a very different look.

Mine is also a three piece body.. you can see the way the different grain in the wood reflects the flash differently.

I'm no expert on Precisions (or jazzes for that matter!) but it's a Danish Alder body with hardrock maple neck. Passive with Seymour Duncan antiquity 2 pickups.

Sounds great to me but I'd like a bit more info about these pickups and what sound Chris was trying to define in this particular bass.(50's, 60's 70's etc?)

I'd ask him myself but he is either on the moon on holiday or has decided that he's peed off with me and isn't talking! :hmm:

I agree. Interestingly, my blue one is one piece. Actually, the blonde one looks pretty cool in person... each piece of ash is extremely highly grained and beautiful. That being said, if I was custom ordering a clear finish (I bought this one from 'stock' at the Austin Bass Traders'), I would definitely spec out a one piece body.
