Off the top of my head, it sounds like a good formant filter could get pretty close, but I wondered if any of you had any comment on achieving a sound such as the one featured in this song.

Except that, according to the Wiki page for this album, JMJ didn't play in this song, or for most of the album. In fact, I'm willing to bet that it's just a straight synth on this song.

he didn't play on that album.

sounds just like the bassline for chameleon. which was a keyboard synth.

Doesn't really matter if he played on the album or not- the song's a few years old, so he's probably played it live and could let you know if he uses effects for that sound or if it's left to a synth.

IMO, the P&C sounds filtery enough on some settings that you wouldn't necessarily need a filter too.

The P&C could pass if it really needed to... but it's not really cutting it since it doesn't do a snappy downward filter sweep. It does sound good under a downward enveloping filter though, and the BMS can cover this tone with ease as well- it's probably the easiest way of coping that tone since it can be done with one pedal, and there is less user input necessary to get the correct even filter sweep on each note since you're not dealing with an envelope.

To FTP, I agree, but there are other reasons that I'm not about to pick up a BMS anytime soon, cost aside.

To Hogie, I also agree. Verb is an important part of the sound in the mix of the song.

That's a Casio SK-1. That doesn't really help with what pedal though, sorry.
