Anything with blue-green blood and guts makes my skin crawl. Ugh. I was partaking of a brew while surfing some talkbass about a year ago, when I felt one crawl on my leg. I freaked out and screamed like a small child, peed down the front of ye olde tousers, and as soon as it fell off my leg because of the sissy-dance I was doing, I beat the crap out of it with my hammer.

I can still see the dents in the linoleum from where I went a little stupid with that framing hammer.

#1!!!!! I probably would also knock over large furniture or appliances onto the remains to make sure the damn thing was really dead.;) I hate centipedes!

I'd run screaming like a gang of small girls, wetting/crapping myself and probably shedding clothes as I ran if I saw a Texipede. I almost did looking at that picture. I may yet.

+1

Just yesterday I grabbed one of those House deals off the shower wall and tossed it in the bowl. Let me tell you, it's a bit disconcerting to watch 20 little disembodied legs swimming around in circles while you're taking a leak. What freaking thing still moves after it's be broken into little pieces?

haha, the poll should say: "are you a pansy girl?"

"maybe"
"YES"
"no"

bugs are very cool, centipedes included.

p.s. anyone seen those "bug war" videos? it was like a japanese game show (naturally) or something where they'd stick two giant arthropods in a perspex box together and make them fight to the death. you kind of get that disgusted-with-yourself feeling, but it is very cool to watch. i'd link it, but the vids are all blocked on the computer here at work (?!?)

Yeah what a bunch a ladies,....pfft

We used to have a really cool North American Millipede. We've currently got a few colonies of Blaptica Dubias (cock roaches) as feeders for our Emperor Scorpion and various other herps that we keep.

I've seen part of one of those,...not really my bag.

i can imagine, it's very gladiator-esque, much like dog or cock fighting. most people hate/don't care about insects and the like though, so they don't get much sympathy.

I think it was more boring and anti climatic than anything else. I think the one I watched was a Goliath Beetle and an Emperor Scorpion,...but I can't remember and can't seem to find the video.

oh. yea some of them were like that. anything with the solifulgae was pretty good though. i remember the weta versus the solifugid was awesome. the weta was huge and unbeatable and ended up eating his opponent o_O

[EDIT]i found the video.... warning: it's not for the faint of heart

Know what? For some oddball reason those "Texipedes" don't bother me anywhere near as much as the darn House Centipedes we get here. They look primeval and actually kind of neat. Most of all though, they look SLOW.
The House Centipedes are amazingly fast which is one of the things that creeps me out about them.

I can't believe the pic of the one on a guys arm. I wouldn't let them on me! That sucker's big too, I thought the ones we found at our shop a few years ago were big! And these guys are QUICK. Probably the fastest bug I've ever seen running across the floor.

House centis appear to move fast, but it's mostly the wriggling that you see- the *normal* ones genuinely scoot(IMO/E). And I may be a complete and total pansy, but my big pansy-man boot is coming down repeatedly on any of these nasty mofos that gets too close to my soft parts. :spit:
