The magnet choice has very little to do with the pickup response when you factor in things like inductance.

It's like saying which is a better piston - the one in the V8 or the one in the V4?

I'd say do a search on each quality that you look for in a pickup - and read the intro stickies.

But please - oh please do not get wrapped up in the ceramic versus alnico debate especially when you are starting a top line comparison of sound qualities.

A better topic would be - true single versus linear humbucking or stacked humbucking or side by side humbucking. Or how certain preamps add or subtract from certain pickups.

Have a look at bill lawrence's site.
It's quite informative

ok man the question is simple and is about all the pickups configuration that you know...which one do you like the most? simple, or do you like both

which sound because they have different sounds youy know????

I bet, the number of windings, wire gauge and wire materials as well as the cable used to connect the pickup to "the outside world" are all different as well.

Of course and IMHO the result is a much better sounding bass.

I had a Fernandes Strat copy with ceramic PUs, sounded like sh**, dropped a couple of old Duncans I had laying around and it turned into a real nice Strat.

[Thread derail] There's no such thing as a V4. There is I4 and H4, but no V4. [/Thread derail]

Huh? not common, but they are real... lots of outboard boat engines are V4s, Yamaha's V-Max bike had one as did my old bike the Honda V45 Sabre (750cc 16 valve V4), so did some of the 60s Saab Sonnet models (although that wasn't a true V4 since the two opposing pistons did not share one crankpin).
