cerwin vega vs. carvin subwoofer

Are you a DJ or are you looking for subs for your band's PA? I wouldn't go with CV for live music if I were you. The frequency response of those subs are better suited to DJ's, IMHO. If you are planning on renting your PA out to other bands, something like a JBL MRX518S sub will be a bit more marketable I think, and will sound more natural (like an extension of your full-range speakers, assuming that those are of reasonably high quality). Have not Heard Carvin subs in a while, but I have heard of systems with fairly high quality tops using TCS (owned by Carvin) subs.

Just my 2 cents.

Sub..CV or CW?

I personally would steer clear and go with the less known yet audiophile heaven subs of Digital Design. Unbelievable raw power and response rate. I had a 9912 in their car line once with 4 viper 1200 class D's hooked up to it. One per voice coil. Amazing sound. JL's are wonderful..to me personally, JL and DD are in a class of their own with subs.
