CG/Fender rant

I wouldn't buy basses to try out and flip it if you don't like it. The market is not very good right now to SELL. It is pretty good for the BUYER because people are still offloading gear (and other nonessential items) for financial reasons. I wouldn't even begin to evaluate the real "longterm" value of any new basses/amps currently on the market. If someone is buying a new bass "Road Worn or any other type", I would be sure you want to keep it for quite a while or be ready to take a loss when you sell it. It's more the condition of the current economy than the actual value of the bass right now.

You did it again!!

You post just the basses that sold in the amount that proves your point. You conviently left off the 2 that sold for $946 and $975 but you added the $650 Craigslist. This bass may just have been stolen and the person wants to get what they can. If some idiot put one on Craigslist for $1 would that mean that is what they are now worth? You also forgot to mention the dealers selling new RW's for $1050 on Ebay. Your logic excapes me.

Yes I always look to buy used. I have only bought 2 new basses in my life. The rest have all been used.

These Roadworns did sell "used" low/cheaper than the normal $1,250 street price new, $1,570 MSRP

EBAY $811.00

Talkbass $850 with a case

Craigslist $650.00

Obviously these basses didn't hold their value, considering how long they have been on the market.

So what really is the true pricing for a "used" Roadworn??

I didn't say the "used" basses are selling for "ridiculous prices"
BUT Now that I think about it they actually are. :)

Which brings me back to my original point which is simply I don't feel the Roadworns are worth the price new.:)

So when you do buy your Roadworn in 6 months I would look on the used market and save alot of money.:smug:

I suspect the RoadWorns may just come down in price soon.
Just my opinion ( and a fervent prayer ). :bassist:
Even though they're supposed to be fantastic players,
and built with better craftsmanship / attention to detail,
they're current street is only $250 less than the American Vintage line.

From my own simple viewpoint, I just don't see how Fender
can expect a buyer with $1000–1500 in their pocket to NOT
step up the the MIA AV line.

Though I haven't played either RW or AV, they seem to be
of similar caliber / quality / playability. But for me, I'd opt
for the AV for sure. And I own an EXCELLENT quality MIM
Classic 60s Jazz.

Guess a person's decision might come down to how badly
they want to do the relic thing.

IMO FWIW ETC

What is the real value of a Roadworn new or used ?...at least one thing we do know it's not the suggested Fender retail of $1,570 or even Musicians Friend's street price of $1,249

I was just showing the Tbers there are some real deals available if you look and relating this to the OP's original post.

The Craigslist Roadworn is a stolen bass for sale...???? ...O.K you win with your "logic" :smug:

Best of luck when you buy your "used" Roadworn is 6 months and I hope it's not a stolen bass :)

For someone who is so concerned about being misquoted you are not affraid of misquoting others. I said "This bass may just have been stolen and the person wants to get what they can." Please take a moment to read the quote above. Obvously you are not aware of what goes on with Craigslist.
