change string today but have a problem

I've bought a set of Rotosound Flats for £25 in UK which is around $50.

When i restring my bass i messup on my E string. I cut the wire really short by accident so when i start turning the peg the string holds its position and stay in tune but the metal part of the string is touching and twisting on the tuning peg. So i was wondering will it cause any problem to my bass. My other 3 string had put on fine with no problem.

So i either leave it or go buy a set of flat again but just putting the E string back on =.=

Also i want to ask the Rotosound Jazz Bass flats will give more deeper sound or the Rotosound Nylon Taped flats will give me more deeper sound?

I mainly play rock, gospel and occasionally jazz.

In UK everything is really expensive, specially flatwound string.

Yeah. That's fine. As long as it stays in tune, there should be no problem, and as long as the break angle over the nut is well and good.

I've done that once. You might get a bit "lumpy" tuning but it should be okay.

It should be ok...I've done that a couple of times when Elites played with the amount of cotton on the end of their strings and not really had any probs with it
