Changed strings from heavy to super-light

Hey guys,

As the title says, I've just changed my strings. But now I'm getting a fair bit of fret buzz. How should I remedy this?

Should I raise the action? Or loosen the truss rod? Or both?

When you make such a big jump in tension you'll need to adjust the truss rod for sure. It's probably going to have a lot of back bow.

You'll also want to adjust the intonation because the strings are much slammer in diameter.

Depending on the depth of the nut cuts you may need a new nut, but this is not very likely.

It needs to be setup.

If you're not confidence in doing it yourself, it is better take it to the tech, although how ever good the tech is, he/she is not you, who will play the bass. So he/she will only approximating your preferance, although it can be excellent enough depend on the tech and your communication with him/her, and your own level of demand for 'satisfaction' LOL
I only can tell you that sometime, even only an inch different in setup can be worthy.

Actually it's not that hard if you'd like to learn, and you'll be more satisfied by DIY.
I recommend you to (at least learn) to DIY...
