Hi,
I'm heavily considering changing my major from Jazz Studies/Performance to Recording, or something along those lines. Why? Reason no. 1: I want to eat. I don't want to scrape by and hope for gigs that will never come. Reason no. 2: I really really like playing bass, but I CANNOT bear down and practice for hours on things I need improvement on. It's like I have A.D.D. I've been told by my professors and peers that I have what it takes to be a player, that not everyone has it. Regardless, I want to continue my bass studies without feeling that if I slack, I'm going to be jobless and poor. I want a career in music, because it's the one thing I've loved throughout life, without wavering. Plus, I love playing other instruments, I love helping people achieve a good sound, I love neat sounds/keyboards/synths, I have a technical know-how (at least I believe so), I have a love for many types of music, not just one...
If someone can further educate me on the outlook of switching my major/perhaps double majoring in production/recording/etc, I'd be grateful.
Pros and cons?
Your help is much appreciated,
Andrew

), but you have to do something you like as well. i've seen a lot of students graduate in areas they didn't like just because they thought they could get a good job who eventually came back for the major they really wanted - that's a hard way to get on the path that's best for you...
