Changing electronics

I have a 2004 Mexican Fender Jazz Bass with active pickups and I'm wondering why is it when I tell people about this they tell me to change the electronics. They tell me to change the electronics so it sounds better what exactly are they talking about?

Do I...
-Entirely change the wiring within the bass?
-Change the potentiometers
-Change the pickups (they are fender noiseless pickups right now)
-or Change all the hardware (i.e. bridge, tuners, and nut)

Any advice will help.

The same also goes for Mexican Strats and Telecasters.

Wiring, pots, pickups, and jack. If it sounds good to you, dont mess with it.

Yeah I guess you're right about not changing anything if I like it. But will it sound way better if I change everything?
