Changing from active to passive

I know this is kind of backwards of what most people do.
I really like my bass, but don’t care for the active electronics. This shouldn’t be too hard to swap from active to passive should it? Or should I just buy a new bass?

What kind of bass and what kind of pickups? If the pickups are passive you'll be fine but you might run into some problems if they are active, IIRC.
