Charlie Sheen

Just a few hi-lites from the 20/20 interview last night off the top of my head...

I liked when answered the question about what will be on his headstone and said, "Something....dot com."

$100,000.00+/month in child support payments was mind boggling to me.

The two live-in hookers posing as girlfriends and pretending to care about something other than $$ is a nice touch too I thought.

I normally don't get into this sort of thing, but I have to admit that I'm intrigued by this whole situation.

He looked really bad, like on all sorts of drugs. What a loser and waste. I'll be the parents are real proud.

I don't give a damn about Charlie Sheen or any other celebrity - but for some reason I watched that interview and it made me incredibly sad. Because I've seen people very messed up and in severe denial before, and it reminded me of them. People who have gone down a very long and dangerous road, and some have *never* come back - and no longer can.

The media cracks me up. NBC had a "REAL" interview with him this morning because his kids got taken away last night by the state. Why does this guy deserve ANY tv time to plead his case? I wish the media outlets weren't paid off (by sponsors and such) and keep the gossip to the tabloids.

However much they disagree, they should not be taking his kids away, unless of course it has been proven that he put them in danger or is high infront of them.

I don't really think it's that he "deserves" anything. It's what's going sell right now. Obviously the ultimate fault lies with John/Jane Q Public (I include myself in this instance as I admitted my interest above).

Viewers=ratings=sponsors=$$$=makes the world go round.

I honestly don't mean to insult your intelligence. I know that you understand this. I'm just killing time before I eat lunch :D

The way I see it is that he's living the way he chooses without listening to the critics, he's loving the way he chooses, he's confident, self-aware, he has a boatload of money, and got himself off drugs without outside influences, he says what he likes, and he chooses to be opinionated. He's living the American dream. He does have HUGE cajones to be doing what he's doing, but I think the world would actually be a better place if more people got 'real' the way he did.
It's not my style, and it's probably not yours, but it's definitely his.
I say "well done."
That said, the scrutiny of the private lives of celebrities is not very important given the big picture.

I saw the 20/20 interview last night and my feelings are

- the drugs have already taken their secondary effects...look how fidgety he was...slightly paranoid.

- all his comments were catch phrases...designed as an attempt to make us think he's great and life is perfect...then the state took the kids, and he still thinks, "it's all good"

- he's not done with drugs...maybe temporarily, but you can hear him glorify them a number of times throughout the interview, as well he doesn't believe they are dangerous to him.

- I sense money issues...he was adamant about "there are people who rely on this money"....yet his support payments would only equal $1,2mil...he made more than that in one episode of Two/Half....as soon as money was brought up, his entire demeanor changed.

- he has that "hollow stare" and looks very ill.

Just my opinion....but he sure is an arrogant ______. that's for sure.

Hollywood will black list him...it'll be "reality crap shows" for him, from now on, with the other cast-outs and has-beens.

The guy's still kicking around and being talked about even though his career probably should have died with the 1980's. Sure he's going about it in a way that can be viewed as a downward spiral, but I'm not convinced he's as "outta control" as it looks like he is. I think he knows what he's doing (and he's been doing the whole bad boy trainwreck thing for a long time now), and it's working well. When was the last time you saw a movie that had his bro Emilio in it?

I'm just waiting until he ends up on Maury Povitch or Dr Phil or some similar show...
Sounds like a PR bonanza, according to some folks. And yet his PR guy quit...

I wouldn't be so sure - no one would touch robert downey jr when he was out of control and then he got truly sober and his career is better now than it was before. if Sheen gets sober, he will have a career again. Everyone loves a comeback/success story.

Yes...very possible...but Sheen's attitude/warpath towers over Downey's.

So, even him becoming 100% sober remains to be seen.

He needs to reel it in..a 7 gram rock ???!!!???
Sorry Charlie, those are the kind of videotaped statements that made the police rocket to your home to get the kids. A 7 gram rock a week ???!!!??? In the words of Pryor, "you're going to snort up Peru"

Let's see, living with two young kids, a history of heavy somewhat public drug use, two 'goddesses' "living" with him, and a documented history of violence against family members. And some of you don't think it was right to remove the kids from the setting?

Really? Seriously?

I personally could not care less about Sheen, his celebrity, etc. But I do like a good public train wreck, especially when its so comically insane.

Now, on the other hand while his brother hasn't been in the public eye for a long time, he's reputed to be a stand up guy, livin' a good normal life these days...and he was in RepoMan, possibly one of the best counterculture movies ever made.
