Double Bass Charnett Moffett's bass

Definitely a Kolstein. I took a clinic with him a few years ago and there's no mistaking it. He's being using those for quite some time. The wear and tear on the bass in that photo looks like it too. I think I briefly mention to us in the clinic that it's a Kolstein Travel Bass.

I've got one in UK, actually bought it from Clarkybass (a few posts ago). I use an Underwood pickup which suits it very well. I like the Realist Lifeline but the Kolstein is quite heavy on the bottom so I haven't wanted to try it. I use this bass where space is limited and like it very much.

I think they're like $6K new. Check Kolstein's site. They come with a insert hole on the side - at least the ones I saw. I'm assuming this allows you to buy a separate piece that you can attach a false bout to make it more regular-DB like.

Kolstein doesn't make the detachable bout anymore. They have one left that they were offering for $600 last time I inquired. They said nobody used them. The bass at JD Hill was mine, but it sold a few months ago.
