OOOOOO!!! So the 5 is now a PJ instead of a JJ like the 1st gen 5er! How was the P pickup in this case? Still amaze? 5 string P pups can be really iffy.
That's the kind of information I don't need. Can't feed my GAS now that I have it under control!
Still no official word on these yet. Come on FenJackdervel, take my money.
I have the PJ IV in blue I bought in mid '21. I love it. The neck profile is fast and comfortable. no "fret sprout." The sound is bright and snappy. Unlike some others, mine doesn't make any unwanted hums or buzzes. It weighs 9 lbs. 4 oz., which is perfect for me. Unlike 90% of my other instruments, I haven't felt the need to upgrade any of the parts on this bass. Everything is just as it should be.
New 5 string PJ and white and black finishes for the 4 string. Looks like they're keeping the JJ 5er too.

That five string reverse PJ is the bass guitar equivalent of having the prettiest girl you have ever seen start flirting with you after you have finally locked down a relationship with a longtime crush.
I wish they would have done black hardware for the white and black finishes, but overall one of those might be a next purchase from me later this year.
So I have a question for the TB mindhive... the new colors have the upgraded electronics. Are they still producing them in the original colors as well? And if so, are they also receiving the new electronics package? If THAT is confirmed, does anyone know a serial/production date of when the changeover to the new bits occurred?
I've almost bought a blue 4 string twice, but both examples were a bit noisier than I wanted. Hoping the new pre is a bit better. I haven't had a chance to sample the new one yet, though. Has anyone tried both and noticed any differences themselves?
Note: I'm glad to hear that Corrington's example is quiet. Guess I need to just go find more examples and try them out! Maybe I'll find a unicorn for myself, haha!

I don't know the answer to your questions... however, I own the San Dimas that @LowEndLobster modified on YouTube and it is a stellar preamp/pup package. It quickly became my go-to P bass.
Received my used Charvel bass yesterday. Love everything about it, except the active preamp. It's very quiet, but very transparent. Hardly any change in tone with input from the tone knobs. The bass knob acts almost as a volume control. When the bass knob is fully rolled back, there is almost no volume. Just seeing if anybody else has had this problem, and if it's a big enough problem to return it. Thanks for any input
