Cheap and decent USB interface for recording

Im looking at the tone port series, specifically the kb37 for the midi controller. Are there better options?

I will be using this mainly for writing and recording demo stuff, nothing really for release but if the quality is there, why not.

I already have cubase and an older version of Sonar but the gearbox software seems really useful.

thoughts?

The Tapco is good, comes with Mackie Tracktion software, for about $149, think there are 3 models from $100-$200.

Presouns, and Yamaha make a few $200 interfaces. I don't care for the m-audio or alisis stuff.

If you want alot of bells and whistles check out the Edirol, but I like the Tapco usb for quality and Tracktion software is very easy to get started with.

I have a Mackie 1220 Onyx w/fire wire, these can be had for $500 used, by running a say channel one w/EQ out to the main outs, then outs to an in, you can get 2 channel strips out of it.

IMO and others, to match the Onyx preamps, you have to about spend 3x as much.
