If you would consider an easy to use pickup, this is an option Bass Max Upright Bass Pickup

A BassMax would never reach the bridge wing of my bass.
The shrink tube around it damps a lot of higher frequency content and sounds even more unnatural than other ridge wing piezos to me. Might be easier to mount and kill some quack, but kills other things that will be missed too.

It is OK to have a (bridge wing) piezo for live playing into an amp, but there are many much better options for recording (!) in a bad sounding room.
