Cheap Rigs.

Hey everyone.

It seems I'm out of using my uncles Bass stack, so I need to get a bass amp/rig.

My first thought was to get a dedicated bass amp, for around $150. I couldn't find much with the amount of power I wanted.

So I started to think about buying PA speakers with a decent low range and a bass head. It seems like that should work, but I need some advice.

After about 30 min of looking around on amazon, I found 2 speakers that are withing my budget. If I picked one of these up, all I would need is the head and cords, correct?

*700 Watt 15" DJ PA Subwoofer With Cabinet & Crossover*
Amazon.com: 700 Watt 15" DJ PA Subwoofer With Cabinet & Crossover!: Musical Instruments

*Behringer EurOlive VS1220 High-Performance 600-Watt PA Speaker with 12 Woofer And Electro-Dynamic Driver*
Amazon.com: Behringer EurOlive VS1220 High-Performance 600-Watt PA Speaker with 12 Woofer And Electro-Dynamic Driver: Musical Instruments

Which of these two would be the better buy? Would this even work? Can you reccomend a cheap bass head for me please? :)

Thanks guys.

Neither. They both would suck out loud for bass. For the first one, bass is not all about subwoofer frequencies, and bass is a lot more demanding on speakers than cheap DJ speakers can handle. And Behringer not only makes crap, but that cab was designed to be a PA top and won't have near enough low end. Save more money and stick with bass amps. Look around for good used gear. You can find quality bass heads and cabs for $300 or less if you're patient and wait for good buys.
