I'm actually originally from Altoona. We get to central PA fairly often. We've been in Altoona and State College a few times now. We should hook up some shows.

I dig it! Kind of like a more deathy Protest with the power metal/death mix. I like how the clean vocals are more power metal than whiny emo core, which is what alot of bands who do the clean/growl mix wind up with.

Musicianship was tight, no one really stood out as being amazing, but overall it was well mixed and played.

I love the over the top image. I think if more metal bands took themselves less seriously (in this vein of the genre, I don't want Opeth to start wearing costumes), it'd be a lot more fun and listenable. I would definitely check you guys out if you play in NYC.

I don't know much about recording by here's my 2 pennies. Move the lead guitar forward in the mix and the bass drums back. I like the bass fills. I'm old school metal so would limit the screaming to only what was necessary to keep things interesting. The choruses are strong and melodic. I also like the guitar harmonies. Keep up the great work.

Killer tunage man! I dig it all around, though I really like the vocals(reminds me of Lamb of God growls) some of the layered high and low vocals don't seem to fit the song, or more the section they were in(only thought so on a couple parts) but sounds really killer and tight, very nice!

I do have a couple of small constructive criticisms though...

I think the singers vocals are awesome, but with the screamy bits, IMHO he should lower them to more "cookie monster" type growls. But screamo is popular at the moment so it's a tough one.

The guitarists licks aren't hugely creative. He seems to use a small variation on the same lead pattern over and over. If that makes sense?

And finally, the medieval look that you have is very cliché and isn't done well enough to be able to get away with it. It's kinda tacky. Dimmu Borgir and those kinda bands get away with it because they have millions of $$ to spend on perfecting their look.

On the plus side, I love the melodies, and your bass riffs are sweet. Love the drummers use of the double kick (although he could do with being a little further back in the mix)

Anyway, hope you don't think I'm being top harsh, but just giving my honest feedback. Overall, I'm a fan

Honestly the look is cliché and we're not really trying to make it better. It's quite a bit tongue in cheek. We all have characters and we treat it like it's a D&D game. Dimmu Borgir and bands like that are a million miles away from what we're trying to do here. They'd probably hate us. haha...

As for the guitar licks, I don't generally listen to much music that has this much fretboard work, so I'm not terribly familiar with other guitar players who play like this. Perhaps they have been listening to someone and unconsciously borrowing? I'll make sure to pay more attention as we write more. I've only been with the band since last August.

The music is ok. The vocals not so much, I really dislike the facts that there are parts that sound like dimmu Borgir but then the clean vocals sound like nickelback.

You should think of redesigning the logo, it looks like a 5 years old draw it.

I'm sending this to our vocalist. No one in this band even likes Dimmu Borgir and we certainly don't like Nickleback. That's hilarious.

Interesting observation on the guitar parts. The guitarists don't even listen to much newer metal, so that's interesting that you say that the riffs are familiar.

I'm not sure what "screamo" is and I've never been able to quite figure out what that means. I listen to tons of music where the vocal approach is along these same lines. I have been working with the vocalist, encouraging him to sing more and more.

Here's an interesting observation. All of the local bands have said that our disc has too much singing. Haha

Well my young friend they are pulling your leg. They wanna get a leg up on you so they can play out more often leaving you in the dust. If they bring u down it's better for them No?
