Check Plate pickguard?

Hey I was sitting in my room procrastinating from doing homework and thought it'd be pretty cool to make a pick guard out of check plate( most likely the aluminium one 3mm or so)

2 questions...

1. Is it Viable?

2. Could i cut it with an angle grinder?

Here are 2 pics of my MIM Strat and my MIM Tele, both with checker plate for pick guards. These were custom made by my bro and 30+ year guitard, Mike Ireson. He also made one for my MIA Strat, for a couple of his Teles and some for other people. I had the edges of the pickguards on mine smoothed right down. Yeah, we get a lot of snide remarks about playing...wait for it....."Metal"
