Are you willing to make the haul out to Elgin? I have a buddy out there who is a fantastic teacher -- musical knowledge is top notch, he's a regular gigging performer, and he's always been willing to adapt his "curriculum" to the player -- so, for me, he was willing to mix theory and "go out and use tomorrow" kind- of stuff; but he could have easily given me a more thorough ground-up education if I had been willing to commit the time
