Did anyone go to this set of shows? If you did, it was impossible to ignore that the sound at the main stage was, for the most part, TERRIBLE. It was really sad. I'm not a sound person, so I don't know why and wonder if anybody here could explain. It seemed like the sound was beaming in very narrow spots, you stand in one place, and hear one set of frequencies, stand in another and hear something completely different, like passing by a set of tunnels or sewer pipes. The absolutely worst served by this was Dinosaur Jr., which is just such a bummer, since I saw them last year and they were amazing live. Is it because they bring their own wall of sound, and it doesn't translate to a huge outdoor show with FOH? You could tell they couldn't hear each other on stage and you couldn't hear hardly any bass or vocals from all except very select areas.
