chick vs chick with bass

Yeah, chic (without bass) for me.

Your facial expression is a little forbidding in the pic with bass, and the bass doesn't really bring anything to the party... at least IMO.

The chic with bass looks a little too at home among the torture implements.

How about a picture of the whole band ?

That would require having / being in a band. Recently switched from guitar to bass so while some skills are transferable I am still learning the differences. It will take some time before I am performance ready as i want to do the instrument justice.

Renée Zellweger - Ewan McGregor "Down With Love" movie poster hanging up on the wall next to all that stuff.

Ummm because I like the movie.

Maybe if the bass had an ankh between the pickups...

Hmmmm you have inspired me. Now just to find someone who can do such a thing.

Why is there a salad spoon hanging on the wall with the rest of that stuff?

You'd be surprised how much of a whallop that one packs. Pervertables can be fun. Things in your local dollar store have so much more uses than their original intent. For the record though, the implements are for use on me, not on other people.

What was she trying to block out at the corners if she didn't mind the BDSM implements on the walls showing?

For some reason my friend took the photos at some strange dutch tilt (that one was for the DOP poster) so I tried to straighten them out for less wonky viewing.

Also...umm you look like a model to me, OP. You're beautiful.

*blush* Aww thanks. :) Any issues with a bi-bassist?

I find it odd that the bass brought out the Ankh Tatto...........
Pic one with the smile, Pic 2 would be great if you smiled....is that a Jackson bass..
side note, I have this 19 year old asian chick student with the same dress and Down with love poster........small world

No offense meant... not knocking your tastes in movies. Sadly, in film school we had to watch this one and it was shown as a example of how not to play homage to the stylized films of the late 1950's and early 1960's. The story itself was fine, the acting was fine, but the screenwriting/direction was a little too "over the top" and sort of undermined the potential emotional pay-off at the end.

BTW... most film critics are basically people who went to film school and learned this stuff only so they could go out and terrorize other people with it. LOL.

Dutch angle. Sweet. Nice call there. When I'm on a set and the director isn't sure how to create additional drama visually... I always shake my head "no" when they suggest doing a Dutch Angle. LOL. I'd rather go to a really wide lens and get really close to the subject or go long and drop DOF out and make you feel claustrophobic... Depending on the emotion the subtext calls for.

Speaking as an experienced photographer:

I'm going to go against the grain and say I like the photo without the smile better.

But if you're going to play the bass for the picture then you should actually be playing it. Plug it into an amp and play the thing and have your friend shoot pics of you while you're rocking out - bass face mandatory. If your fingers are motion blurred then so much the better. :bassist::cool:

Alternatively, if you want to just pose with the bass then simply hold it in your hands and keep a relatively neutral expression on your face.

In either case, make absolutely sure that the entire bass is visible. Don't let the headstock (or anything else) get cut off the edge of the picture.

And most importantly: Take lots and lots of pictures so you will have enough to choose from.

Is that a Jackson bass.

It's a 1989 Epiphone power bass. Picked it up cheap from Craigslist as a starter bass until such a time (like when my consolidation loan is paid off) I can afford something more fancy. I got my eye on this purple one at a local music store.

I'm more of a TV person than a movie person but I have to disagree there. I thought it captured it nicely.

Yeah waaayyy overused unless you're Terry Gilliam, then you can sorta get away with it. As a weird coinky dink I work for the camera union in Canada.

What is the point of this thread?
I think, if I'm not mistaken, the young lady wanted to know if she looked better with or without her bass guitar.

Pretty much. It's a debate I've seen on a few bass boards. And thanks for the young lady, made my 42 (43) next month self smile.

And most importantly: Take lots and lots of pictures so you will have enough to choose from.

This was a spur of the moment thing. Perhaps next time I should do one up with me in my leather corset.
