I was a skeptic, but after a long drive in a small car I had to go in. I couldn't sleep, breathing hurt. My wife goes all the time. I walked out feeling a lot better. I have gone back from time to time when I get that feeling. It has helped my neck a bunch. My mid back is still a little tough.

I hurt my lower back in September of last year, and I started having pain in my hip,all the way down to my feet.Paid a visit to my local chiropractor, and after 3 sessions I started getting results. Then once a week for 2 months, and the pain went away.No problems since either. Beats taking tons of meds! It worked great for me,but it might not for everybody. It's always worth looking into.

It works until I go get in my car and look over my shoulder to back up my car and everything pops back out of place.

I agree about it not solving the underlying issue. The guys I have been to never really tell me why this or that is out of whack, they just crack it back into place and then I come back when it pops back out.

I used to go to one and he didn't do me much good. I found a different one and I go every couple of weeks. I really lie the chiropractor I go to now. As far as treating the underlying issue, I'd say it depends on what those issues are. If they're weight related, my chiropractor has a list of back exercises and stretches he recommends as well as core exercises.

My cousin is a chiropractor. Some of his views about medicine are a little out there, but he's done some amazing work in my experience. In fact, without his help, I likely wouldn't be able to play music anymore. Most chiropractors work mostly with the neck/back, but some also know how to work with other parts of the body. IME, the younger the chiro it is, the more likely they are to know more about things other than just neck/back stuff.

I'm not a fan. Mainly because it isn't very tightly regulated (ie, it isnt at all, at least in the UK iirc).

And the foundation of chiropractory is pretty much lunacy.

IMO, they do nothing that a experienced escort couldn't.

fix'd it for ya' :D.

But in all seriousness, I had to go to one for a while for a tic. It's hard to explain so I'll let wikipedia do it for me. It was voluntary and I did it to alleviate constant discomfort in my neck. I saw a chiropractor in middle school who was supposed to make it go away (i guess...?). It never went away but it definitely decreased dramatically and I felt really relaxed afterward. It's returned in full force unfortunately (been about 4 years since I last saw the chiropractor) so I may need to go back.

I was a skeptic for awhile.

I was having some pain and was recommended some active release therapy. Saw much better improvement than anything else I tried.

I don't make a habit of it, but if I'm having a big enough problem I trust someone in the line of work.

I went years back and found a doc that was a real piece of work. I actually needed surgery in my lower back and didn't know it. He said he was going to start at my neck and work his way down over a 6 month period. I walked out.

I found another one that knew his limitations and recommended a MRI which led to 3 surgeries.

Anyway, this morning I am going back to the one I trust to see if he can help me with my neck. It is tense as hell and I've tried stretching but it just seems locked up.

They worked for me! When I was in highschool I worked at a restraunt as a busboy. One night I slipped carrying a busload full of dishes. Messed my back up pretty good. Started using my parents chiropractor and now I don't have any back probs. The one that I used mainly dealt with the neck. It was amazing how he could adjust my neck and it would make my lower back pain go away...

IMO, they do nothing that a physiotherapist couldn't.

I agree with that 100% - I had persistent back problems a few years ago and have private health insurance through my job. I was able to get a consultation with a Harley Street Specialist and he said to me that an operation was always a last resort and weakened the back - but the best thing was physiotherapy - he specifically warned me against chiropractors.

Qualified physiotherapists can be expensive and there are long
waiting lists on the National Health Service. But I managed to get a lot of free consultations through my job and I was eventually "cured" by a sports physiotherapist who normally worked on Rugby players. He diagnosed that I was walking unevenly and he has "cured" many people of recurrent back problems by physiotherapy and then with custom inserts for their shoes to even up their walking.
