Chnage just the pickups or change the pickups and preamp?

I recently bought a Tech 21 SansAmp preamp to get a better sound out of my Marcus Miller 5. I have been getting "slightly" better tones from the Tech 21, but that notorious hum makes me want to change the pickups to Nordstrand NJ5FS (Hum-cancelling, Split coil version of NJ5F) and use the Tech 21?

Or should I just go ahead and get the JOHN EAST Marcus Retro 01 with the Nordstrands?? Thanks for looking!!!

What pickups are you looking at??

Will any guitar center do that copper shielding or do I go to a tech??

any gc will do the copper shielding but your going to have to supply it. you could find it online for pretty cheap. i was looking at the seymour duncan quarter pounders for my mm4. i have the p bass version of them in my mia p and i love them. they bring out a little more of that midrange grunt of the bass which personally i like alot. thats the one thing i noticed with the mm4 is that there really is no midrange grunt which sounds like a fender, its all bass a treble which is cool but you need a little bit of mid.

i ordered the pickups a few days ago im just waiting on them to come in. ill let you know how it turns out. i think i might buy an aguilar obp-2 or the obp-3aswell but im not sure yet.
