It’s the one that has my initials at the end of the headstock. It might be a main, but not my only tools that I use.

define "forever bass" please. i played one ax for ~20 years(?). in my world that's "forever".....maybe even "too long!"What is your "forever bass," and how did you choose it?
Hey, I’m not flexing in this photo.I'll admit, that's pretty cool man. Also, nice flex.![]()

Well... like a lot of people here, I don't really have a "forever" bass. I do have a list of basses that I've wanted for a very long time. I finally managed to fill that list this Spring - after 30+ years. Why so long? Well, being left handed is often exactly the bummer you might imagine that it is... I usually have 2 basses and a guitar sitting out, next to my amp. A couple of my basses have spent several years there, but lately? I'm trying to give them all equal time...Hi folks. I've been playing bass for a long time, and my main has been a Schecter C-5 that I've dragged through the mud. I love this bass, but if I'm honest with myself, this bass hasn't fit my vibe for a long, long time. (Looking at the catalogue this bass was introduced in is evidence of that.)
So what is my vibe? I love things that are very clearly modern but are also classic — stuff that feels like a blend between vintage and future. Right now I love my Ampeg PF-50t fliptop and Godin A5 fretless. They feel like instruments I will use forever, and I haven't really had that experience before. It's nice.
I narrowed my options down to an this bass hasn't fit my vibe for a long, long time (in dark night) and a Yamaha BBP35 (in vintage sunburst). These fit my price range, sound great, and seem built to last forever. I'm 85% sure I'll get the BBP35, because it manages to be much more modern while being very classic.
So! What is your "forever bass," and how did you choose it? Also: what would y'all pick if you were me?

Although I have had several ‘forever’ basses, I do admire bassists that manage to really hold on to one bass throughout their whole career or at least have a strong association with a particular bass. Examples include Geddy’s Rickenbacker phase, Lemmy and his Rick, Jaco’s Jazz and Leigh Gorman’s Wal.
