Choosing a stool for electric bass guitar

+1 for Liquid Stands. My wife plays piano and has back trouble. I bought her this Liquid Stands keyboard bench and she was very happy with it. I liked it so much I bought one for myself. Our guitarist got one too. Not as high as a stool, but somewhat adjustable and very comfortable and stable.

So I went with a Roc-N-Soc round stool with backrest. I'm glad the drum throne approach was recommended as I'm liking it a lot. Feels comfortable although I'll need to get more experience with it over long durations to see how comfort turns out. It's built like a tank. Dead silent when swiveling the seat or playing. Instant air-cushioned height adjustment for micro-tuning the best position. The backrest is simple to adjust and provides perfect lumbar support; it can go higher if you prefer middle-back support. Takes less than a minute to disassemble and stow in a duffle bag for transport. Very easy lift. As mentioned earlier, after trying several shapes I went with the round version as this one seemed more comfortable for bass guitar. I chose a blue seat color -- looks great too.

Purchase report: After sitting on this Roc-N-Soc chair for somewhere between 100 and 200 hours during the past month, I can report the comfort level is pretty good. I have a thin, bony frame so it's really hard to find something that's 100% comfortable all the time. The chair doesn't deliver a "perfect" score, but compared to everything I considered and tried, I don't regret this purchase at all and am happy I chose it. I appreciate the chair's solid, silent performance in helping me play bass better while seated.
