Choosing headphones

Need help choosing headphones-
Mainly for Music and Videogames BUT i'm asking here cause in the future i'll use them for recording and using programs like Ampeg SVX and so on.

I have 3 options:

Grado SR-125i
AKG K240 MKII
UltraSone ???
Sennheiser ???

That's probably it

I don't know your price range, but I recently bought a pair of Sennheiser HD380's:

Worth every penny. The bass response is phenomenal. They are the best headphones I've ever used for bass practice as well. They do a decent job of basic noise cancellation with all the padding around the ears.

Be warned that if all your music is low bitrate MP3's you'll notice with these. Rip with the highest quality you can or use FLAC preferably. I had no idea how good my movies music sounded until I bought a pair of these. :hyper:

Sennheiser HD-600 are fantastic. Check out the reviews on Amazon. Few things though:

1.) you'll need a preamp or external headphone amp
2.) They're an open ear design so folks around you will hear what's coming through the phones. For this reason they are not good as studio monitors. They're great reference cans though.

Grado are off the comparison
Im now with the

AKG:
K240 MK2
K242 HD
K272 HD

Sennheiser
HD 380 PRO
HD 280 Silver

The Sennheiser got much more wide Freq's, Which is good for bass signals.
More opinions?

hmmm...

It seems 3 of the headphones you listed sell for about $200, the AKG K242 HD are about $300 and the Sennheiser HD 280 Silver are less than $100.

That's a pretty wide price range...

If you are interested in the best all-around $100 headphones you can buy for recording, IMHO that would be Sony MDR-7506. I use them in my studio and I own 4 pairs of them.

If you really want to spend more than $100 on headphones, then I don't know which of the others you listed is better.

Headphones have very subjective. There's not a single brand that stands out over another.

Spending more doesn't necessarily mean you'll be getting better headphones. Or that you could actually hear a difference in their advertised specs. You're probably better off buying a couple of each headphones and Earphones (IEM quality) over a single set of expensive headphones. People listening to your recordings will be listening on many different types, so you'll want to be sure the mix fits a variety of types.

I like isolation cans the best for practice and laying down tracks. You have a better chance of hearing live what it will sound like on playback without the bass in your hand.

Locally they are all around 200 dollars
Every single one of them some a bit less (About 190) and some 250
Not a big difference

Anyhow, I need the ones that good for everything, Including videogames and music not only for recording.

I think i'll go for Sennheiser PRO 280 or 380 if i can't scratch the moniez

I have the AKG K271 and love it, I chose it specifically because it's circumaural. I can't stand stuff pressing on my ears. At first it may come across as bass-shy when coming from another brand, but it's just very linear instead of bloated like others.
Also check out the Beyer Dynamic DT770pro...

ps I also have the K701 for listening only and it's leagues better than the K271, and that is saying something. The 271 is more comfy though and it's closed-back. The mute switch in the headband can be fiddly at times...

You may want isolation, but closed-back headphones also keep the heat in. For me, I can only wear them for a few minutes at a time. Open-backs breath, and your ears don't get hot, but there is not the isolation. If you're going to be playing games with them on, keep that in mind.
