Well unless im mistaken. where i use the 6 as the root of the chord and the 8 as the fith. thats a root and fith........god.....i think its is........it should be.

Em consists of the notes E G and B. Find those three tones and you have an Em triad. There are a num ber of different voicings (you can play a number of different Em chords in different positions on the neck). It will help to find those notes in a high register.
