Chris Cornell Leaves Audioslave!

Soundgarden = wildly creative band, and always interesting, even if some of their experiments were hard to listen to.

Audioslave/Rage Against the Machine = some of the least creative, boring, overrated music created by great musicians who should know better. If I hear Tom Morrello do one more cliche pentatonic Black Sabbath riff, and then step on his whammy pedal to do his standard "whicky whicky whicky" solo I'm going to punch myself a fanboy.

As for Chris Cornell leaving Audioslave, I'd love to see Soundgarden get back together. Perhaps if Rage reunites and then learns how to expand upon their rather tired sound, I'll give it a chance.

Soundgarden could never be soundgarden again, Cornell's voice is almost gone. He could barely sing for Audioslave. Badmotorfinger soundgarden? Never again :(

Rage? I kind of liked them. Funny thing is, the album I like the best (the only one I still really love) is Renegades of Funk because it's all covers. :) There is some political content, but it's on the backburner. With Rage (what got annoying) the music was secondary to the same politcal B.S. over top. I understand, your pissed, but rapping to the hot topic crowd isn't going to rally the troops.

They dont care. You think only hot topics listen to them? Do you know the kind of funds they raised for people like mumiah abu jamal? They got their point across, millions of people learned new things, they got their job done and done weel if you ask me, although their political views may be questionnable to some.

Wow this drastically turned into an audioslave bash fest. I'll be waiting to see you release albums and have your songs in so many movies/video games. Then we can talk, you rock god superstars you.

We don't need to "rock god superstars" to have an opinion. We as consumers have the right to judge the products that are available to us. If you dont want to hear about it then hit the back button and read something else. :rolleyes:

Well that's kind of a tiring argument that you can't have an opinion unless you've sold millions of records. He's right and I have used that argument. We consumers judge them all the time, with our wallets. Some consumers don't even play anything. Some vote with their parents money.
I like listening to Audioslave. I've always thought Chris was one of the best things to come out of the grunge movement. Zacks lyrics don't touch me at all, and turn me away from the other 3 who I really like, but Zack has a big following. I don't get it, and there's plenty of other bands to support. I don't want to see harm come to Zack, I just don't care.

I completely agree with you. Audioslave would sound great with a better singer. It was always Chris's singing which kept me from really liking them all that much.

Yes, having your song is so many movies/video games does make you a rock god superstar. Does it mean you make good music? No. Just because a band is famous doesn't mean they instantly earn my respect.

You people cant appreciate anything ;)

The songs are simple, and some of them come very close to bands like U2 or Coldplay, bands which I dislike myself, but Audioslave imo manages to pull that kind of music off better. Saying that its some opf the least creative/boring music ever is a bit harsh imo. Just cause you dont like them doesnt mean you shouldnt recoignize talent when its there... I think they made some very creative/catchy songs, and while I'm a hardcore soundgarden fan, I still think Audioslave is a band that worked on their music more than RATM.

Soundgarden reuniting would be cool (though they weren't great live when I saw them) but what about poor Pearl Jam?

The poor drummerless freaks.......


Btw Chris Cornell's solo album (Euphoria Morning) is well worth a good listening to.
Took me a while to get into the slower, darker sound but I love it now!

I crowd surfed at a RATM gig..........15 years ago!!!!!!!
I'm old. :bawl:
