Chris Squire Memorial-From Scotty Squire

My best friend and the love of my life Chris Squire will be cremated today in Scottsdale, Arizona at 3:00 pm.
However, knowing Chris, he might be running a bit late for the event; After all, he has always been the 'late' Chris Squire.
So at 3:00 pm Phoenix time, please take a moment to play your favorite Yes or Chris Squire song, or just think of your favorite Chris Squire memory.
Sending my love to all,
Scotland Squire

I saw this on FB yesterday. Was taking my daughter to violin lessons so couldn't play anything, but really a cool thought. I think it's great that she has a sense of humor even in her loss.

My condolences. To the whole world really but especially to you and all who were personally close to Chris.

The post is a quote from Squire's wife, I don't think the OP is actually her. She posted this on his facebook account.

And just for the family connection, a little internet browsing found this image from some years ago -

I believe that is Mrs. Squire seated to Chris' left.

I was in Los Cruces, New Mexico, that day on vacation. I went out to my van, dug out my copy of "The Yes Album", and exactly at 3:00 PM played "Yours Is No Disgrace". Afterwards, I smiled and prayed for his family.
The upcoming tours this summer and spring with Billy Sherwood playing bass will likely be YES's last. Chris made the band go. I cannot see it going further without him.
It would be wonderful if they had a farewell tour or concert with all the different lineups playing songs they recorded. It would be a fitting tribute to both Chris and original guitarist Peter Banks and a good way to end YES.

I agree that he was the common element through all of Yes' incarnations and the heart of the band in many ways. But in at least one interview, asked about changes in the lineup and Jon Anderson no longer being with them, he said that he liked to think of Yes like a symphony orchestra where players join and leave but the group remains the group. He liked to imagine that a hundred years from now there would still be a band called "Yes" out there playing great music.

Is it wrong that I played the Roundabout riff really loudly at 11 o'clock at night? Because I did.

My band cranked out an impromptu rough-and-Stones-like version of "Owner of a Lonely Heart" at band practice last Wednesday in memory of Chris. I wanted to give "Roundabout" or "The Fish" a try, but our violinist didn't know them.

ebick, I'm sorry for your loss. May his memory be a blessing.

I cranked "Heart Of The Sunrise".

RIP, Good Sir.

From many experiences I've had in my life I truly belirve in ESP, or at least that there are energies we cannot comprehend with our conscious minds that connect us to the world, and in the week running up to Chris's death I got the very weird urge to listen to Yes after not listening to them for years. The actual time of his death I was listening repeatedly to "Changes" and "It Can Happen," two of my favorite songs of all time. I've read a lot of negative stuff about Squire over the years, and while I cannot comment on him as a person, as a bassist he was one of my biggest inspirations and I'm very sad he passed away. With him dying and Rush retiring, I officially feel like my life has entered a new phase, and one I'm not quite prepared for.
