So I have been playing acoustic guitar for a long time and recently started playing the bass. I'm picking it up quickly and really enjoying it.
I was never a big gear head even in terms of guitar, and honestly, I had never even really thought of effects when it came to bass. What would be an essential starting point for effects for the bass? Although I'm not yet at the point of trying to emulate these guys, my major influences (if that helps) are:
Chris Squire
John Entwistle
Phil Lesh
Paul McCartney
