Cigar Box Bass Build

I call it my Pizzacasso - 'Cos she looks like a cubist painter's idea of an upright, and plays finger-style...

Did this a couple of years ago. The fingering is tight - I modified a 1/2-sized cello bridge, and I don't play with a pick...

This represents about 2 man-months, spread over a year, spent on my porch with only a rasp and a dremel, really. She has a nice Fishman piezo under the bridge, with the pre-amp made for a Michael Kelly Dragonfly. Overkill, really, with the cotter-pin frets and shoe-horn tailpiece .

That scroll headed one is gorgeous!

Hmm...maybe we should make a box-bass club, as more and more of these are "coming out of the woodwork", so to speak.

I'm telling you, man, start posting numbers. It'll be the most exclusive club on TalkBass!

Here's a new video I posted of mine played through a Dunlop Wah: http://youtu.be/449iog4MjZE

The thing is almost unplayable due to my poor building skills leading to non-functioning tuners, but it makes a cool sound when wah'd. I am well aware that I play it poorly and out of tune, but I also don't really care all that much.

Watched this with interest as I've built a twin neck uke/bass and struggled to find a 16mm spacing 4 string bridge. Gave up and hacked the end off of a 5 string bass bridge. Now I've got orders from people in my uke club and can't find a Chinese cheap as chips bridge!!
