CIGAR SMOKERS, I NEED YOUR HELP

as Mitch Hedberg said: "whenever someone hands me a flyer, it's like they're saying, 'here, you throw this out.'"

a well-placed advert is good, but flyers handed out to people or put on cars is just annoying.

swanky bars, hotels, bathrooms, golf courses, nice restaurants... these are all great ideas by the people above. good luck to you and your friend!

Ever see those glass-box ads hanging over the urinals of a bathroom in a ritzy restaurant? Find someone with mad photoshop skills, get some really elegant posters made, and have them printed in the right size needed to fit those wall ads. If you go to some nice places that have them, they'll always have the ad agency's info for contacting them and purchasing ad space inside those cases.

Also... STRIP CLUBS! Fat cats love to smoke cigars in strip clubs, and if you buy ad space in there, you'll really get cigar smokers.

PM it to me. My dad lives in Macon and gets up that way quite a bit. One of his friends is a cigar freak, and really looks forward to me visiting out there, which I do once every year or two. I usually bring 10-12 really good cigars out there with me.

Ok, well I think I might have an idea. Have him set up a website. When I was really at the height of my pipe smoking, I ordered a lot of stuff from other tobacconists online. A great example of stuff to keep in stock is Just for Him. I imagine this place is huge in real life. But you also reach a nation-wide market. I would rather carry an image like this, business wise than having junk in strip clubs. Just my 2 cents.

Mike is a truly nice guy- I talked to him on the phone today and ordered a few sticks. He speaks highly of Dave as well! Very professional, and very knowledgeable about his merchandise. He is also expecting a very large stock order in this week or next from Altadis...mmmm, pleasin'! :D

well if he spoke highly of me he may have been drunk.;) mike is a great guy and knows his stuff. the best way i can describe him is he is a dead ringer for bun e carlos from cheap trick. imagine bun e carlos wearing a tweed jacket and smoking a sherlock holmes pipe. that would be mike. if you guys need a tobacconist, this is your guy.

yeah guys. if you want to call him his # is 770-947-5090. tell him i refered you, and mention that you are from the bass forum. if i'm not allowed by tb rules to post this # i apologise. if it gets deleted, please pm me and i will let you know what it is.

bassic83, you're the best man. thanks a million. oh yeah, how about a couple of "fresh" steak recipes!!!!

Cigars

Print advertising will only produce 1/2 of 1% return on your investment. The key is to Build relationships with cigar smokers.

1.Work the golf pro-shops in a direct business to business format. Try to become thier supplier if they do not currently sell cigs, or see if the want to outsource thier humidor program to you.

2.Sponsor a hole at a golf tournament.

3.Get involved with every organization doing a fund raiser with a silent auction; give a box of top notch cigars as an auction prize. This is great advertising!

4. Private label / custom label cigars could be a great nitch market. Example: Produce a Box of cigars with the logo of an exclusive Golf coarse on it and give it to th president of that organization as a gift. Then ask him how many boxes he would like to stock at the pro-shop.

You may even consider your own private lable line with your stores logo. These would be the ones that you give away as a promotional piece.

5. Do a cigar of the month club with your clients. This will keep them buying new cigars Frequently if you can manage a database.

6. Have monthly cigar tasting events. Your distributors will generally sponsor this type of event.

7. And for the Cuban connection, check out
www.cigars-of-cuba.com. you can buy havanas reletively cheap and they ship descretely for free ANYWHERE in the world. If nothing else you will get some good ideas from this site on how to ad value to the customer experience.
